Everton transfer ownership of Goodison Park to their women’s team

According to The Guardian, Everton have transferred ownership of Goodison Park to their women’s team in a move to increase their appeal to external investors.

The Toffees confirmed in May that the women’s team would play their home matches at Goodison in 2025-26 after David Moyes’ side move to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It has now emerged that Everton Women have taken ownership of the historic venue, which remained the home of the men’s team since it opened in 1892.

The Blues recently sold the women’s team to Roundhouse Capital Holdings, which is controlled by the club’s owner Dan Friedkin.

The Friedkin Group’s takeover was completed in December 2024, ending the turbulent tenure of Farhad Moshiri.

Everton are the third team to sell their women’s team, following in the footsteps of Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Chelsea sold their women’s team to parent company BlueCo in June 2024, while the Villans sold to holding company V Sports in June earlier this year.

Everton benefits from the sale as it is recorded as revenue in the club’s accounts, thus boosting their PSR standing.

They suffered points deductions in 2021-22 and 2022-23 for breaching the PSR rules.

It is hoped Everton Women’s ownership of Goodison will increase their appeal to external investors. Although Roundhouse insists they are only open to selling a minority stake and plan to maintain its majority investment.
