Everton summer transfer window 2025: Toffees make exciting additions but still need improvement

David Moyes has done an impressive job since returning to the Everton hotseat after 13 years elsewhere.

The Toffees were sitting just a point above the relegation zone when Moyes arrived in January.

But the Scottish boss made an instant impact, and not only steered them away from the drop zone but secured them a 13th-placed finish in the Premier League.

Impressed with Moyes’ work, the Friedkin Group backed him well in the summer transfer market

The club’s owners have made funds available for several quality acquisitions, and the squad has been greatly strengthened with these new signings.

The headline addition is that of Jack Grealish, who has joined the Merseyside outfit on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The England international has made an excellent start to life in the Premier League, bagging four assists in three league encounters.

Everton splashed £35 million to acquire the services of Tyler Dibling from Southampton, while Thierno Barry arrived from Villarreal to strengthen their attack.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is another exciting addition for the Toffees, with a deal for the central midfielder costing them around £25m.

They also made Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move permanent after he impressed with his performances last season.

However, Everton couldn’t improve a few areas in the summer transfer window.

They still lack defensive-midfield cover for Idrissa Gueye, while a new right-back also eluded them.

Moyes’ side endured a difficult start to the new campaign, losing their opening game to Leeds United.

But they have massively improved their performances since that defeat, picking up three consecutive wins in all competitions.

The Merseyside club claimed a 2-0 league victory over Brighton & Hove Albion before outclassing Mansfield Town with the same scoreline in the Carabao Cup.

They then edged Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 last weekend at the Molineux Stadium.
