Everton keen to sign AC Milan right-back Emerson Royal

Everton have approached AC Milan to sign right-back Emerson Royal.

This is according to journalist Matteo Moretto who report that the Toffees have enquired about the 26-year-old’s situation in the last few hours.

Milan are willing to listen to offers for Royal in the winter transfer window, and they are already in negotiations with Turkish side Galatasaray.

Royal played for Tottenham Hotspur between 2021 and 2024, having joined the club in a £25.8 million move from Barcelona

He enjoyed a relatively successful stint in north London, making 101 appearances and scoring four goals during his three-year spell.

The Brazilian joined Milan in the summer, and he has been an important member of their first-team this season.

The right-back has already played in 25 matches for the Rossoneri, with 17 coming in the Serie A.

It is strange that Milan are ready to lose such an important player midway through the campaign.

Everton could make a concrete offer

The Toffees are in the market for a new right-back amid speculations over Nathan Patterson’s future at Goodison Park.

Patterson has been struggling for game time, having made just five appearances in the Premier League this term.

Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young are ahead of him in the pecking order, and the 23-year-old is willing to leave in search of first-team football (per Daily Mail).

He wants regular opportunities to boost his chances for a call-up to the Scotland squad for the World Cup qualifiers.

Everton could make a concrete offer to sign Royal, who would be a smart acquisition for them.

The Brazil international has also been doing well in the Serie A, and he also boasts Premier League experience, having played three seasons for Spurs.

Everton have Coleman and Young as options at right-back, but both of them are on the wrong side of 30.

At 26, Royal still has many years left at the top level of football. He could be a big success at Goodison Park.
