Preview: Aston Villa vs Everton – Prediction, Team News, Line-ups

Everton will return to Premier League action this weekend as they go head-to-head with Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Toffees are sitting 12th in the league standings, while Villa are 14 points above them in third.

Match Preview

Manager Unai Emery has completely transformed Villa since taking over as head coach in 2022.

The Spaniard endured a difficult start this campaign, as his side were winless in their opening five league matches.

However, they have made a superb comeback since, claiming 13 victories to be level on points with Manchester City.

Villa will enter Sunday’s fixture on the back of a 2-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup third round.

Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers scored in the first-half, before Wilson Odobert pulled one back to make things interesting. But the Lions held on to win to reach the next round of the competition.

Everton, on the other hand, crashed out of the FA Cup after losing on penalties to Sunderland

Goalkeeper Robin Roefs was the shootout hero for the Black Cats as he saved three from three.

The Toffees’ form has clearly suffered from players missing due to AFCON this month.

David Moyes’ side are winless in their previous three games and have won only once in their last seven matches in all competitions.

Team News

Villa will be missing Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley due to fitness problems, while Boubacar Kamara’s availability remains doubtful. Emi Martinez could potentially return from a calf injury.

As for Everton, Seamus Coleman and Jarrad Branthwaite will continue to be sidelined due to injuries. Timothy Iroegbunam remains a doubt, while Michael Keane will serve his suspension against Villa.

Aston Villa vs Everton prediction

Villa have lost only once at home this season, which came in August against Crystal Palace. Since then, they have won their previous eight league games at Villa Park.

Everton could make things difficult for the Midlands outfit, but Emery’s men are expected to triumph once more at their home venue.
