Jarrad Branthwaite signs new five-year contract with Everton

Everton have confirmed Jarrad Branthwaite has penned a new five-year contract with the club.

The 23-year-old had two years left on his previous deal, with the club also holding the option to extend by 12 months.

But Everton were keen to tie him down to a new contract amid interest from several top clubs.

Branthwaite expressed delight at signing a new deal that is set to keep him at the Hill Dickinson Stadium until 2030.

He said: “I’m over the moon. It’s been something we’ve been talking about since the end of the season and to get it signed now is something I’m really excited about.

“The trust the Club’s put in me and how many games I’ve played over the past two seasons has made it quite an easy decision for me to stay and to keep progressing as a player.

“I know the Club. I feel loved by the players – we’ve got a good group here – and the fans. Over the past few years, I’ve seen the impact the fans have on us as a team and how much it means to them. And, obviously, with the new stadium we’ve got here, the new ownership and the new manager, it’s an exciting project and it’s something I want to be part of.

Branthwaite arrived at Everton from Carlisle United when he was 17 in January 2020.

After enjoying loan spells with Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven, he has established himself as an important first-team member.

The centre-back has made 86 appearances across all competitions, bagging four goals and two assists in the process.

A groin surgery kept him on the sidelines early in the season in 2024-25, but he went on to make 30 Premier League appearances, playing a pivotal role in helping his side to a 13th-place finish.

He won his first England cap last summer against Bosnia & Herzegovina, but failed to be part of the 26-man squad for Euro 2024.

Manchester United submitted two bids to sign Branthwaite last summer, which were turned down.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in a deal for the young defender this summer, but it appears he is going nowhere.

Everton were well protected regarding Branthwaite, with two years remaining on his contract plus a club option for a third.

But they still tied him down to a new long-term deal, which has made it clear their desire to retain his services this summer.
