Lyon pushing to sign Everton forward Arnaut Danjuma

Everton forward Arnaut Danjuma is subject to concrete interest from Olympique Lyon, who are aiming to strike an agreement this month, Fabrice Hawkins reports.

The 26-year-old joined Everton on a season-long loan deal from Villarreal last summer but could be on the move just six months into his spell at Goodison Park.

Danjuma is very much in Sean Dyche’s plans but has struggled to establish himself in the English manager’s starting line-up.

The Netherlands international has featured 18 times across all competitions, with 13 games coming in the Premier League.

However, he has only made the starting line-up four times, returning a meagre two goals in his 18 games so far this season.

The past 12 months have been a mixed bag for Danjuma, who opted to leave Villarreal to join Tottenham Hotspur on loan back in January last year.

His move to north London came about in a bizarre set of circumstances. He had already agreed a deal to join Everton for the second half of the 2022/23 campaign before Spurs swooped in at the last minute to seal a deal.

Everton finally got their man last summer, but he could jump ship again with Lyon eager to snap him up this month, and Hawkins believes the player is open to a mid-season exit.

Everton manager Dyche has previously insisted Danjuma will remain in Merseyside this month despite rumours of an offer from Lyon, but the attacker continues to be linked with a pre-mature exit.

Lyon are planning to terminate a loan deal for Chelsea youngster Diego Moreira, who has struggled to make a mark since joining the Ligue 1 side last summer.

Danjuma has been earmarked as a possible replacement for the teenager, and Lyon are hopeful of persuading Villarreal and Everton to facilitate a move until the end of the season.

Midfield duo Abdoulaye Doucoure and Amadou Onana have also been linked with a move away from Everton this month amid interest from Saudi Arabia and the Premier League, respectively.
