Everton’s three worst players in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea

Everton slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss against Chelsea in Saturday’s away fixture, as reported by Ninety Minutes Online.

The hosts made a positive start and found themselves ahead in the 27th minute via a Nicolas Jackson goal.

David Moyes’ men improved after the break and threatened to equalise in the final stages of the contest.

But with Robert Sanchez excellent between the sticks, the Toffees couldn’t breach their defences and had to come away empty handed from West London.

It was a collective failure from Everton, but we think the below three were the worst performers against Chelsea.

Beto

Beto was guilty of losing possession in the build-up to Jackson’s goal in the first-half. The 27-year-old endured a disappointing game for his team this weekend, as his decision making was poor and he often made mistimed runs.

Beto was on the pitch for over an hour and had just 23 touches, which is fewer than goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. He had a shot on target but completed only four of his nine passes. The striker lost the ball on an incredible 12 occasions.

Abdoulaye Doucoure

Abdoulaye Doucoure had a chance to restore parity for Everton on the stroke of half-time, but he headed his effort wide. He didn’t make any glaring mistakes but failed to make an impact as well.

Doucoure registered three tackles and a clearance, but he lost possession of the ball 11 times and was dribbled past on five occasions. The attacking midfielder also won just three of his 11 ground duels.

Iliman Ndiaye

Iliman Ndiaye is the Toffees’ top goalscorer this campaign with nine goals to his name. However, the 25-year-old is still finding his way back to sharpness after recently coming back from a long-term injury.

Ndiaye produced a disappointing display in the first-half and was hooked at half-time by David Moyes. The Senegal international had zero crosses, key passes and shots on target, while he lost possession of the ball on three occasions in the game.
