Everton’s owners prepared to invest £150m in summer transfers

Everton’s owners are set to back manager David Moyes in the transfer market after his impressive work last season.

According to the Independent’s Miguel Delaney, the Toffees plan to spend up to £150 million under the new Friedkin ownership this summer.

Moyes reportedly wants to sign a right-back, an attacking midfielder, a central midfielder and a right-winger.

Manchester City’s James McAtee is believed to be a priority target for Everton, but a move for the 22-year-old is not expected to be easy.

They face competition from several clubs, including Nottingham Forest, West Ham United, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

McAtee has been one of the best talents to come out of City’s academy.

After impressing during his loan spell at Sheffield United, he returned to the Citizens for the 2024-25 season.

But the English footballer struggled for first-team opportunities last term, managing just three starts in 15 Premier League games.

McAtee reportedly wants a fresh challenge elsewhere, and with a year left on his deal at the Etihad Stadium, City may decide to cash in on the player this summer.

Everton have been active in the 2025 transfer window. They have already completed moves for Thierno Barry and Mark Travers after the permanent signing of loanee Carlos Alcaraz.

But it appears they are not done yet as they plan to add more quality to the squad ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Moyes did an excellent job by comfortably leading Everton to Premier League safety after taking over as manager in January.

The club’s owners are reportedly very happy with the Scottish boss and plan to back him in the transfer market this summer.
