Preview: Everton vs Manchester City – Prediction, Team News, Line-ups

Everton will look to continue their momentum on Saturday when they welcome the Premier League champions (although not for long) Manchester City to Goodison Park in a blockbuster Premier League fixture.

The Toffees came away with a point the last time they met Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad Stadium in December.

Match Preview

Everton were sitting just a point above the relegation zone when David Moyes arrived at the club in January. Now, they have created a 17-point gap with the drop zone after recording five victories and six draws from 13 league matches under the Scottish boss.

Their latest success came last Saturday at Nottingham Forest, when Abdoulaye Doucoure scored the decisive goal by finishing off a stunning breakaway in stoppage-time.

The result saw them climbling to 13th in the Premier League standings, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Everton will now go head-to-head with Manchester City, who have had an underwhelming 2024-25 campaign.

However, the Citizens will be coming off a morale-boosting 5-2 win against Crystal Palace.

Guardiola’s side conceded two early goals before staging an excellent comeback inpsired by Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian curled a brilliant free-kick past Dean Henderson before Omar Marmoush, Mateo Kovacic, James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly all got on the scoreshee to seal an emphatic victory for City.

Team News

Everton continue to be without Orel Mangala and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the duo still battling injury issues. Jesper Lindstrom will also be missing for them, as the 25-year-old recently underwent a hernia operation.

The latest Man City news is not very encouraging for their supporters either. Ederson sustained a knock against Palace and has joined Rodri, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Erling Haaland and Manuel Akanji on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Phil Foden’s availability is doubtful for Saturday’s fixture.

Everton vs Manchester City prediction

Everton have not lost in their previous six Premier League matches at Goodison Park. Though City are a formidable side with quality players in all positions, we think the Merseysiders are good enough to pick up another draw in Saturday’s home clash.
